Major: BC and REAL

Hometown: Louisville, CO

My name is Hunter Armstrong. Choosing to attend Virginia Tech as a Building Construction student was a no brainer. Following my first visit to campus, I was obsessed with the atmosphere of both the campus and Myers Lawson School of Construction. From day one, I have had continuous support from my advisors, professors, teaching assistants and peers.

My passion for the construction industry has grown over the years, similar to my knowledge. I have been able to experience my career both in the classroom and through summer and winter internships where I apply technical learning. Moreover, I have been a part of incredible projects such as the St. Louis Major League Soccer Stadium! Even as an intern, I provided for the project and made lasting decisions that impacted the overall outcome of the project.

It's incredibly inspiring being a student and having a purpose on such large scale projects. Virginia Tech has given me the ability to develop myself and build my own community.

As an out of state student from Colorado, I have joined multiple organizations and clubs both on campus and within the Blacksburg community that have allowed me to make Virginia Tech my home. Joining groups like the Associated Schools of Construction allow me to apply myself outside of the classroom during the school year, whereas my involvement with Southwest Special Olympics allows me to volunteer for the community.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends, exploring the surrounding areas of Virginia and staying as active as I can. Attending Virginia Tech was the best decision I've ever made and I am more than happy to answer questions and help out whenever possible!
