The Department of Building Construction graduates go on to rewarding careers. Industry partners and alumni continually support the department through advisory boards and active participation in our career fairs. Our graduates experience a high placement rate due to this support. BC students are academically ready for their new profession and most have participated in several internships by their graduation date.

Our students obtain internships with general contractors, specialty contractors, engineering firms, design-build firms, and other construction related businesses. The positions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Office Engineer
  • Field Engineer
  • Expeditor
  • Construction Manager/Superintendent
  • Project Manager
  • Scheduler
  • Estimator
  • Project Executive
  • Field Operations Manager

Students typically start out as an assistant to these roles and eventually work into the full role with experience.

Post Graduation Reports

Note that "placement" is the term used in federal reporting requirements. Career centers typically do not use the term "placement" because this implies an action taken on a student's behalf by someone else who controls decision-making. Employment decisions and graduate school admission decisions are not controlled by career centers. Please note date of data collection as frequently students do not retake the assessment after accepting a job. For more information, please visit the Post Graduate Survey and Report website
