Sandeep Langar Named 2012 College Outstanding Graduate Doctoral Student Award

Sandeep Langar is pursuing a doctoral degree in Environmental Design and Planning (EDP), with a focus on the adoption of sustainable technologies along the northeast coast of the United States. The study further ascertains, if the adoption of sustainable technologies, can be accelerated with the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM). He earned his Bachelors of Architecture at the University of Mumbai,India, and completed his M.S. in Building Construction at Virginia Tech. Sandeep has several years of training and on-site knowledge of design and construction practices in his home country of India. His research goal aims at utilizing BIM to design / create sustainable systems for facilities that mimic natural systems, and analyze its successful implementation for real world applications.Observing Adoption of Innovation towards Sustainability (ITS): A BIM Analysis:The aim of the research is to observe the extent of adoption of sustainable technologies along the northeast coast of the United States and the effect of Building Information on adoption patterns.
